During my Third Class year at USAFA, we lost my mother to cancer. It rocked our world. We have missed her in our lives ever since. She was 42 years old and a Navy Veteran. She answered her country’s call during WW II as a Navy Wave and was assigned to an administrative pool in Washington DC. She and my Father (Army Tenth Mountain Division) were so very much part of the Greatest Generation, so selfless and focused on creating a better life for their children.
Great strides are being made in Cancer Research and treatment. That is in part why this initiative by the USAF Academy Class of 1970, Winded Warriors (brothers all) is important. Fifty years later there is still a common bond that is steeped in the values of USAFA:
Service Before Self
Excellence In All We Do
This is about what, for most of us, is a long history of service to others and now applying wisdom, character, and sober judgement that comes with age. There is no finish line for service to others.
Please donate if you are so moved. Everything helps and we thank you so much!
